Repair Rotten Columns with a Brick Finish

Posted on: April 30th, 2017 by Donnie Rosicka Masonry

With all the moisture in our area, we find many home areas that rot and many times people are tired of repairing these areas so they turn to a brick finish solution. That’s just what we did for this homeowner who had a front column in need of repair. Many times the original brick is no longer available in the marketplace, but we’re knowledgeable about what bricks are available and are good at selecting brick that will blend, if not closely match, your existing brick.

Storage Area Concrete Slab: Sandestin Resort, Miramar Beach

Posted on: March 15th, 2017 by Donnie Rosicka Masonry

We’re all looking for a good place to store our outdoor equipment and avoiding the clutter of storing these things in the garage is preferable. Donnie Rosicka Masonry can help you build a good-looking, durable storage area solution that is tucked away but available when items are needed. We just started on a storage solution in Sandestin Resort that butts up to the back of the house. You’ll notice the rebar, which is stronger than wire or fiber mesh when embedded in concrete, was used.

Fireplace Surround Remodel using Antique Chalkboard and Mantel

Posted on: November 10th, 2015 by Donnie Rosicka Masonry

Donnie Rosicka Masonry completed the remodeled of the fireplace surround below using early 1900’s chalkboard pieces that we custom cut. The mantel piece and separate supports came from a late 1800’s fireplace in Ohio that was built and used when the Erie Canal was constructed. Needless to say, there was no room for error. We had just enough to build it with no extra material at our disposal. The home belongs to Mr. and Mrs. Scott Murie who reside in Destin.

Wow, isn’t this just a beautiful patio and antique gazebo? What a great way to enjoy the breeze off the water on one of our glorious days on the Emerald Coast. Donnie Rosicka Masonry constructed the concrete patio with brick surround prior to the installation of the antique gazebo. It’s always gratifying to see the finished project work so well for the client.

Home Renovation in Shalimar

Posted on: February 10th, 2015 by Donnie Rosicka Masonry

My wife, Nancy, and I just finished a complete renovation of our home after gutting it. The home was built in 1971 and was brought up to all current Florida Building Code requirements. We actually tore everything down to bare framing and started over. All new electrical, air conditioning and duct work, new foam insulation, new sheet rock, new roof, new windows and doors, etc. We also reconfigured most of the interior walls.

We thought we’d share our before and after photos with everyone! You may not be able to appreciate the infrastructure work that was done, but you’ll see that the front of the house got a complete redesign as well as the entry, sunroom, kitchen and master bathroom. Our daughter, Amy Lowey, a designer in Atlanta, GA, designed the remodel for us. It’s great to have such talent in the family! We love living in Shalimar and our remodel has made home even that much better!
